TRANSMISSIVE CERTIFICATE MODULATED SINUSOIDAL SIEMENS STAR Camera Test ChartTransmissive Certificated  Camera Test Chart Modulated Sinusoidal Siemens Star

The chart TE253 D35 9x contains nine radially sine modulated Siemens stars, slanted edges and white noise patches. The center of each star shows a registration marker. Each star is surrounded by 16 gray patches, used for linearisation. The corners are showing a bigger black square with a small white square in it. The chart is available with Siemens stars with 144 and 72 periods.

The two sets of slanted edges offer four different modulations each (40%, 60%, 80%, 100%).

The chart size is 50 x 50 x 4,6 mm (w x h x d). The image size is 32 x 21 mm (aspect ratio 3:2).

The design of the chart complies with the latest ISO 12233 (2014) standard for resolution measurement.

The maximum resolution of the TE253 D35 9x depends on the number of cycles:

The TE253 D35 9x 144 (size D35) can be used for cameras up to 10 MP. The results of the measurement deliver the full MTF curve.

Note: The chart can be used for cameras with resolution up to 30 MP with restrictions. The results of the measurement deliver the limiting resolution precisely. The full MTF curve might be corrupted due to the fact that the production procedure itselve adds an MTF to the chart which cannot be determined.

This fact affects only the high frequencies in the chart. Therefore the TE253 D35 9x 144 is suitable for cameras up to 10 MP without restrictions.

Note: The resolution of a system might be lower than the pixel count of the sensor. E. g. in endoscopic cameras the lens might reduce the resolution distinctly. As a result the resolution of a 2 MP camera might be too low for the TE253 D35 9x 144 (2 MP – 10 MP).

The D35 format is designed for the usage in combination with the endoscopy integrating sphere (30 cm diameter). The size of the chart neatly fits in the slot of the integrating sphere. This integrating sphere delivers the uniform illumination in the chart plane that is needed to illuminate a test chart.

Images of the chart can be analyzed with the software iQ-Analyzer. The software delivers the MTF for the Siemens stars, the SFR of the slanted edges and results for the noise patches.
