Brushless DC motors are motors with high reliability, high efficiency and high power-to-size ratio. Technically, it is a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), but it is named brushless DC because it uses a DC power supply to operate using an inverter in a simple commutation method and does not involve brushes. In some cases, the stator windings are constructed to match non-sinusoidal commutation.
