Benzophenone is a high purity, non-cleaving, solid photoinitiator which is used to initiate the UV polymerization of chemically unsaturated prepolymers (e.g. acrylates) in combination with tertiary amine synergists. It also can be used as the intermediate to synthesize organic pigments, pharmaceuticals, spices and pesticides.
