Detection kit for Monkeypox virus is designed to detect DNA from Monkeypox virus in specimens such as serum or plasma, vesicular or
pustular lesion fluid collected from individuals.
Monkeypox virus ( MPV) is a double- stranded DNA, zoonotic virus and aspecies of the genus Orthopox virus in the family Poxviridae, and
causes a human disease that resembles smallpox.
Interpretation of the Test Results
1. Negative result determination:
If the FAM channel have no significant logarithmic growth curve; at the same time, the HEX/VIC channel has logarithmic growth curve, and
Ct≤38, the result is negative (-). If there is no significant logarithmic growth curve in all channels, the samples should be retested.
2 . Determination of MPV positive results:
If the FAM channel have logarithmic growth curve, and the Ct value is≤ 38, the result determined that MPV is positive.
3. Experimental gray area:
If the FAM is 38 ≤ Ct value<45, the result should be judged as located in the experimental gray area, and the sample should be retested. If there
is obvious logarithmic growth curve in the retest result, the result can be judged positive; if there is no obvious logarithmic growth curve, the
result is negative.
4 . The “ retested” operations mentioned in steps 1 and 3 are depending on the available material:
a) obtain a new specimen, re- extract and retest,
b) re- extract and retest another aliquot of the same specimen,
c) repeat qPCR with the same isolated nucleic acid.
