SARS-COV-2 Neutralizing Antibody Detection Kit (ELISA) is used for qualitative detection of the neutralizing antibody in human serum or plasma sample.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS- COV-2) is an RNA virus with multiple structural proteins, including spinophilin (s)> envelope protein (m), and nucleocapsid protein (n). Spinophilin contains a receptor binding domain (RBD) responsible for recognition of the cell surface receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2). Studies have found that the RBD of SARS-COV-2 protein interacts strongly with the human ACE-2 receptor, leading to endocytosis of cells into host cells, which can cause an immune response after infection with SARS-COV-2, including antibody production in blood. Secreted antibodies provide protection against future viral infections because they can stay in the human blood circulatory system for months to years after infection and rapidly and strongly bind to pathogens, preventing virus binding to the human ACE-2 receptor to initiate infection, and these antibodies are called neutralizing antibodies.
