The Canine distemper virus Antigen Rapid Test Card is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of canine distemper virus antigen in mucus, saliva, serum or plasma. After adding sample, it moves along with labled CDV antibody. If there is CDV antigen, combine with antibody on T line showing wine red color. If no CDV antigen, no color reation.

3. Test Procedure

1. Add 2 drops serum, plasma or 1 drop blood into sample buffer, mix it evenly;

For mucus or saliva sample, use swab to collect sample, insert the swab into sample buffer, mix and stir to make it dissolved completely.

2. Take out test card, open package, put it on desk flatly, use dropper to absorb sample buffer dissolved with sample, adding 2 drops slowly and accurately.

3. Put it at room temperature for 10~15min, read the result.

4. Result judgment

1) Negative: no color reaction on Test Line (T Line), only on Control Line(C Line) being seen wine-red color reaction

2) Positive: Both on T Line and C line being seen wine-red color reaction.

3) Invalid: No color reaction on C Line.

1) Which sample is better?

At fist stage of CDV infection, collecting blood as sample is better. Early stage of infection without conjunctivitis, cough, diarrhea and other symptoms, the virus only exists in blood, usually there is no virus in eye excrement, mucus and saliva. If suspect there is canine distemper symptoms appear, using eye discharge and saliva is more convenient.

2) What should be pay attention when use plasma to test?

When prepare plasma, if use container include anticoagulant EDTA, it can disturb test result. Even the EDTA is at low contents can also disturb the result, so avoid use EDTA.

3) Whether appear positive result after Vaccination?

Because CDV vaccine is weak virus vaccine, the positive reaction may appear in the process of immune as the virus increase. But, this phenomenon can disappear in 3-10 days after Vaccination.
