Avalon 841 Miner is an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) hardware produced by Canaan Creative. Started in 2013, Canaan is one of the top developers and manufacturers of Blockchain servers and ASIC microprocessor chips. They also specialize in the production of custom-designed ASIC microprocessors for their Avalon mining brand.

Avalon Miner 841 is a Bitcoin miner that uses 16nm ASIC chip technology. Released in April 2018, it is a second 8th generation AvalonMiner model. The Avalon Miner 841 weighs about 4.7 kg, and its outer dimensions are 370mm x 150mm x 136mm. This Miner 841 lacks an in-built controller and requires a separate controller. It has a reliable and stable design, and a compact shell case helps conserve space.

Due to the 16nm chip technology, the miner has a high power efficiency of 0.99J per Gh/s. The Avalon 841 comes with a top hash rate of 13.6Th/s and power consumption of 1290W. The Avalon miner 841 has a high price, but this is compensated by the reduced downtime, less need for repairs, and low repair costs. This reduces the total miners' cost during its lifetime.

The miner comes with one Avalon Miner Controller (RPi 3 based), a MicroSD card with pre-installed Wrt-based controller firmware, and 4 AUC3 12C USB converters. The user can use the Raspberry Pi single-board computer as the controller unit.

The Avalon Miner 841 works with the Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-256) algorithm. SHA-256 is a cryptographic hash function that allows ASICs to mine up to 40 coins. The top coins are Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash(BCH).
