The AB 1771-IK module is a counter and encoder module for PLC-5 systems. The module supports 1 counter. The encoder supports dual channels and the counter supports 1 channel. The supported peak input pulse rate is 50 kilohertz. The 1771-IK module supports both the block transfer and single transfer modes. The module requires an external power supply rated for 12 to 24 Volts DC. The input circuits require a maximum current rating of 170 milliamps and the output circuits require a maximum current of 1.08 Amps. The device driving the input terminal must be capable of sinking 10 milliamps of current for a 12 Volts DC external power supply. The device driving the input terminal must be capable of sinking 20 milliamps of current for a 24 Volts DC external power supply.

The output ratings for the 2 open collector outputs on the 1771-IK module include a maximum current of 500 milliamps per output and the output voltage equals the external power supply voltage. The maximum power dissipation for the 1771-IK module is 12.1 Watts. The thermal dissipation for the module is 41.3 BTU per hour. The module is installed in an empty slot on an AB 1771 chassis. The typical and maximum backplane current requirements of the module are 1.2 Amps and 1.4 Amps, respectively.
