Sharp Filed Patent Infringement Damage Lawsuit against OPPO Smartphone Distributor in Taiwan
Sharp Corporation (hereinafter "Sharp") filed a damage lawsuit for patent infringement in the Taiwan Intellectual Property Court against a major smartphone distributor of Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp., Ltd (hereinafter "OPPO", Head Office: Guangdong, People’s Republic of China) on April 1, 2020. Sharp alleges that OPPO smartphones sold in Taiwan infringe one LTE patent related to communication technologies implemented in smartphones.
Sharp views its intellectual property as a major resource for its business development. Sharp’s wireless communication standard essential patent portfolio now includes more than 6,000 patents across over 50 countries. Sharp will take necessary actions to protect its intellectual property rights.
