Articulate Probe With Flat And Cone Shaped Hand 3.5 – 4.5 Year Age
Standard:
UL 60335-2-24 Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 2-24: Particular Requirements for Refrigerating Appliances, Ice-Cream Appliances and Ice-Makers, Annex 101.DVA, Figure 101. DVA.1
Application:
It is used for Hazard Assessment for Moving Parts; and Probes to Simulate Access to Hazardous Parts by Children.
When evaluating potential pinch points, i the probes of Figure 12DV, of the Part 1, Figure 101. DVA.1 and Figure 101. DVA.2 cannot penetrate the opening, or the maximum force exerted by the moving part onto the probe is less than 22,2 N (5 lbf) at any location ACCESSIBLE by the probe; Test Finger Probe
Parameter:
Item | Dimension description | Dimension mm |
A | Middle finger length, 95 percentile | 55 |
B | Middle finger diameter, 5 percentile | 9.1 |
C | Hand length, 95 percentile | 125 |
D | Elbow to wrist length, 95 percentile | 165 |
E | Wrist diameter (circumference divided by pi), 5 percentile | 32 |
F | Forearm diameter (circumference divided by pi), 5 percentile | 46 |
G | Minimum hand CLEARANCE (cone shaped hand part), 5 percentile | 39.1 |
H | Cone shaped part at finger attachment | 20 |
I | Hand breadth (flat hand part), 5 percentile | 48 |
J | Wrist breadth (used for the hand thickness – flat hand part), 5 percentile | 24 |
K | Hand breadth at finger attachment (flat hand part) | 36 |
L | Upper arm length, 95 percentile | a |
Notes: 1 – The probes were designed with a center pin to rotate the hand with respect to the lower arm. That motion can be equivalently represented by rotating the probe. Test Finger Probe 2 – The finger "tip" is developed to match the dimensions of the UL articulated probe. The diameter from the tip to the first joint then tapers from the tip dimensions to the finger diameter. The joints are spaced equally along the finger length. 3 – The probe is designed to permit the hand to "bend" with respect to the arm using a hinge pin located 6 mm (0,24 in) from the hand length (wrist end) and the hand is restricted in bending not more than 90° with respect to the arm. a If the upper arm is required to evaluate a part it shall consist of a flexible tube attached at the end of the lower arm, as the exact position of the elbow cannot be readily determined from the data points chosen. |
