WLS-807 Wind Vane & Solar Obstruction Light
Airport Wind Cone (Windsock) is a device which helps pilots to identify the direction and speed of the wind. It has different colors, preferably white and orange or red. White and orange stripes indicate the strength of the wind. Longer wind cone, stronger wind. White and Orange stripes show the speed or strength of the wind. At least one wind cone must be installed at the airport.
The location of the wind vane must be visible by the aircraft in flight or in the active area, and not be disturbed by the air currents caused by nearby objects.
Wind Cones are usually installed in the central part of the airfield near a runway, its size and height depends on manufacturer specification, length of runway, category of airport. However, it should meet standards provided by ICAO or FAA. According to ICAO Annex 14, the length of airfield windsock should be at least 3.6 m and of 7.4 m height.
The Wind Cone WLS-WV-807 includes a 12-feet wind sock, a solar obstruction light and a solar internal floodlight. It should be illuminated if airport provides night flights. It is used to visually indicate the wind direction for Airports, helipads, Hospitals, Military Bases and Corporate Headquarters.
