Testing Principle
Mature hematoxylin forms a blue lake through binding with tungsten. This blue lake firmly binds to the selected tissue components, causing them to appear blue. The components displaying a brownish-red color are stained due to the action of phosphotungstic acid.
Stain Results
Striated muscle fibers, neuroglial fibers, cellulose, and cell nuclei appear blue; collagen fibers appear brownish-red.
