The mecanum wheel is a special wheel design that is widely used in devices such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and intelligent robots. Its unique design allows the vehicle to move freely in all directions, with high flexibility and mobility.
I. Principle of mecanum wheel
The mecanum wheel consists of multiple small wheels arranged at a specific Angle so that the entire mecanum wheel can rotate and move in any direction. Each small wheel has its own driving mechanism, by controlling the steering and speed of each small wheel, the vehicle can move forward, backward, rotation and translation.
The principle of the mecanum wheel is based on the theory of centripetal moments and dynamics. By controlling the speed and direction of each small wheel, the mecanum wheel is able to generate centripetal forces of different sizes and in different directions in different directions, pushing the vehicle in a specific direction. By flexibly adjusting the speed and direction of each small wheel, the mecanum wheel system can realize the arbitrary movement of the vehicle on the plane, with great mobility and agility.
2. The structure of mecanum wheel
The mecanum wheel consists of a central shaft and multiple smaller wheels. The central axle is fixed to the chassis of the vehicle, while the small wheels are located on the periphery of the central axle and arranged at a specific Angle to each other. A typical mecanum wheel usually consists of four small wheels, each in the four directions of the central axis, arranged at a 45-degree intersection.
Each small wheel is controlled by an independent driving mechanism, such as a motor and a reducer. By controlling the speed and direction of each small wheel, the overall direction and speed of motion of the mecanum wheel can be changed. This decentralized drive enables the mecanum wheel to have extremely precise control performance, enabling subtle movement adjustments.
3. The application of mecanum wheel
In AGV, mecanum wheel can realize the arbitrary movement and steering of the vehicle on the plane. By adjusting the speed and direction of each wheel, the AGV can drive forward, backward, rotate or even diagonally. The omnidirectional movement of the mecanum wheel enables the AGV to travel flexibly in small Spaces and adjust the direction and path in real time.
Equipped with mecanum wheel, the intelligent robot can move freely in the indoor environment, and can adjust the direction and path at any time. By controlling the speed and direction of each small wheel, intelligent robots can achieve precise positioning, fine motion adjustment, as well as complex path planning, provide efficient services and perform tasks.
