What is Carbonless Copy Paper ? |
Carbonless copy paper is a printing industry acronym which stands for " No Carbon Required " and NCR paper
is a type of carbonless paper, or carbon less paper, designed to transfer writing from the top to the sheet or sheets
below it. It is the modern version of the outdated and often messy carbon paper options that used to be the standard for
making duplicates. The way that carbonless paper works is through a dual process. The front sides of the sheets
are coated with an invisible clay designed to react with a specific dye to form a permanent mark. The back sides
of the sheets are coated with the micro - encapsulated dye necessary to make the carbonless paper and
carbonless form system work, and when the top copy is written or printed on ( with special dot - matrix printers ),
the pressure enables the coating on the back of the sheet to react with the coating on the front of the
subsequent sheet.
