Coal Biomass Diesel Oil Gas Waste Steam Boiler Bare Tube Economizer ASME Standard
What Is an Economizer?
1. Economizers are mechanical devices intended to reduce energy consumption or perform a useful function such as preheating a fluid.
2. In basic terms, an economizer is a heat exchanger. The orientation of an economizer can be vertical, horizontal, or cylindrical depending on boiler size and space available, and it is fitted directly to the boiler near the flue gas outlet.
How does it Work?
1. In a boiler system, an economizer captures the heat of the flue gas and transfers it to the feed water. The process is simple. As the flue gas exits the boiler, it enters an economizer with finned tubes.
2. The finned tubes absorb the heat and raises the temperature of the boiler feed water, lowering the needed energy input.
Why Add an Economizer?
Adding an economizer will increase boiler efficiency by 10-12%. In addition, the reduced amount of energy required for heating results in reduced fuel consumption and cost.
Serpentine Tube Economizer Application
1. It is used in all modern plants. The use of economizer results in saving fuel consumption increases steaming rate and boiler efficiency.
Some of the common applications of economizer are given below, In steam power plants it captures the waste heat from boiler stack gases (flue gases) and transfers it to the boiler feed water.
2. Air-side economizers HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition) can save energy in buildings by using cool outside air as a means of cooling the indoor space.
3. Refrigeration: This is commonly used in industrial refrigeration where vapor compression refrigeration is essential. Systems with economizers aim to produce part of the refrigeration work at high pressures, a condition in which gas compressors are normally more efficient.
