Pultruded carbon fiber round tube(Hollow) manufactured from 100% unidirectional carbon fiber, which gives them excellent strength along their length but does make them vulnerable to crushing forces.
Pultruded tubes are ideal for scale aircraft, gliders, helicopters or any construction that requires strength, rigidity, and lightness. The Pultrusion process allows incredibly tiny diameter tubes to be produced.
Pultrusion:
Pultrusion is a method of manufacturing continuous lengths of a fiber-reinforced section by pulling continuous strands of carbon fiber through resin and a former before curing the resin all in one process.
Internal release agents are used in the pultrusion process, which migrates to the part´s surface. A pre-treatment of the adherent due to this is necessary. These have to be roughened (abrasive paper 220 grit) and cleaned very thoroughly. Epoxy resin or cyanoacrylate (superglue) is used for the bonding itself.
The straightness of pultruded CFRP tubes is due to manufacturing reasons worse than the straightness of CFRP tubes which are manufactured with the "Pullwindig"- technology. Wound carbon tubes perform best, but are also much more expensive. Smaller diameters are straighter than large diameters. Pultruded CFRP tubes are the right choice when high strength should be achieved at a low price. The tolerances in the inner and outer diameters are low, but vary depending on the diameter typically between 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm. The tolerance of the straightness to 1 meter is in any case less than 1 mm.

How to make carbon fiber tubing?
Our carbon fiber round tube is rolled unidirectional carbon fiber fabric into a mandrel, and roll wrapped a 3k finish fabric exterior. Unidirectional carbon fiber is the structural backbone of all our tubes, the 3k fabric weave that gives carbon fiber tubes their traditional ”carbon fiber look” is only the outside layer and helps with durability.
