Carbon Tube Woven Finish Roll Wrapped Tube 30mm OD, 28mm ID, 1000mm Length
High strength roll wrapped carbon fiber tubes with a glossy, woven carbon fiber finish make them a great choice for a huge range of both structural and cosmetic applications including drones, UAVs, camera rigs, automation, tripods, lightweight structures, and much more.
Roll-wrapped carbon fiber tubes are universally strong and can tolerate all forces equally. Unlike carbon fiber pultruded tubes they can withstand twist (torque) force, compression, tension, and deflection without splitting. This is because the fibers have been wound around the diameter of the tube as well as running lengthways. First, the tube mandrel is wound with unidirectional carbon fiber around the diameter, then it is wrapped with the fibers running the length (longitudinally), finally, it is finished with a wrap of 3K twill before it is cured in an autoclave, roll sanded and recoated with epoxy.
Carbon fiber roll-wrapped tubes are ideal for all kinds of construction projects that require a lightweight performance sporting tube that can deal with forces from any direction.
These high-performance, roll-wrapped carbon fibre tubes have a glossy, woven carbon fibre finish making them ideally suited for use in applications where they will be seen. With the classic appearance of 2/2 twill carbon fibre together with a 100% roll-wrapped prepreg carbon fiber construction, these tubes are not only designed for demanding mechanical applications, they also look fantastic, adding a distinctive carbon fibre appearance to any application.
Roll wrapped fibre tubes are manufactured using alternating layers of high strength unidirectional carbon fibre running both length-ways down the tube for stiffness, and at 90° around the tube to provide hoop strength. As a result, while pultruded carbon fibre tubes have good longitudinal strength, roll wrapped tubes are preferable for applications where the tube may be subject to a variety of forces including bend, twist and crush.
Typical applications include model-making, engineering and automation, robotics and UAVs, recreational and sporting equipment and lightweight structures. If you have a requirement for machined or finished carbon fibre components please ask the Plastock team for more information.
