When a filter rod with a certain dielectric constant enters the microwave resonant cavity, the perturbation phenomenon is generated in the cavity; by measuring the variation of frequency f and quality factor Q after the perturbation, the electromagnetic characteristics of each part of the detected filter rod can be calculated by using a linear regression method, and whether the capsule filter rod/cigarette is qualified is judged on this basis.
