1. Introuduction

The honeycomb ceramic carrier is mainly made of cordierite, and the honeycomb ceramic material used for automobile exhaust treatment is often porous cordierite, which is mainly used to provide inert physical structure for carrying catalyst coating. In order to have a larger catalytic surface in a smaller volume, the surface of the support is made into a honeycomb shape. The advantages are large specific surface area, low thermal expansion coefficient, excellent thermal shock resistance, strong acid, alkali and corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength. Honeycomb ceramics as a carrier is the key component of three-way catalyst. One of its important materials is cordierite, which is resistant to high temperature, with high continuous working temperature up to 1200℃, high strength and low linear expansion coefficient. The carrier adopts effective surface and proper pore structure. The opening rate of ceramic carrier can reach 400-600 mesh /inch2, and the small wall thickness can reach about 0.16 mm. It can enhance the mechanical strength of the catalyst, improve its wear resistance, impact resistance, gravity resistance, compression resistance, high temperature resistance and phase change resistance, improve the conductivity of the catalyst, and reduce the content of active components, especially when noble metal catalysts platinum, palladium and rhodium are used, the active components can be highly dispersed and the consumption can be reduced. In a word, the quality of the carrier is extremely important to the catalyst. The mesh number of the honeycomb ceramic carrier can be 200 mesh, 300 mesh, 400 mesh or 600 mesh, and the cross-sectional shapes are round, racetrack, oval and some special shapes according to customer requirements, so as to meet the requirements of different vehicle types.
