Up to 32% chrome (chromium) and up to 5.8% carbon, chromium carbide metallurgically bonds to the steel’s surface to form a protective and durable surface that will not separate from the base metal.
The typical thickness tolerance of carbide steel overlay product is (+/-) 1/16” of nominal thickness ordered. For applications that are sensitive to thickness, Clifton also produces a tight tolerance overlay product of which thickness tolerances are (+/-) 3/64” of nominal thickness ordered.
