Philippines Standard High Strength Carbon fiber CFRP fabric for structural strengthening
Carbon fiber reinforced polymer fabric (CFRP fabric composite strengthening system) for structural strengthening, repairing and retrofitting of masonry, concrete, steel and wooden substrates. CFRP composite strengthening of columns, beams, slabs, walls, piles, pier caps in building, bridge, highway, railway, tunnels, piers and civil airport.
The primary benefit of CFRP fabric systems versus traditional retrofit and repair methods is that significant flexural, lateral, axial or shear strength gains can be achieved with an easy-to-apply composite that does not add significant weight or mass to the structure of building, highway, bridge, tunnel.
CFRP fabric strengthening of existing structures can involve complex evaluation, design, and detailing processes, requiring a good understanding of the existing structural conditions along with the materials used to repair the structure prior to CFRP installation. The suitability of CFRP fabric for a strengthening project can be determined by understanding what CFRP fabric is and the advantages it offers, but more importantly, its limitations.

• Applying carbon fiber adhesive
• Externally bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) fabric
• Applying carbon fiber adhesive again
• Curing and protecting
Preparation works
Surface must be clean and sound. It may be dry or damp, but free of standing water and frost. Remove dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, impregnations, waxes, foreign particles, disintegrated materials and other bond inhibiting materials from the surface. Existing uneven surfaces must be filled with an appropriate repair mortar. The adhesive strength of the concrete must be verified after surface preparation by random pull-off testing (ASTM D 4541) at the discretion of the engineer. Minimum tensile strength required is 200 psi (1.4 MPa) with concrete substrate failure (typical).
