What is Emulsions?
Emulsions are the most commonly used carrier system for cosmetic ingredients, imparting the desired consistency and texture to lotions, creams, makeup, conditioners, and other products.
Proper mixing is essential to producing emulsions of consistent quality. By investing in high-throughput mixing strategies that handle a wide range of viscosities and shear requirements, cosmetic manufacturers can gain greater flexibility to respond to changing consumer tastes and market trends.

CHASING mixer
More challenging emulsions often require mixing at higher shear levels to achieve stability. When conventional rotor/stator arrangements fail to produce the desired droplet size distribution in cosmetic emulsions, the next practical step is to use an ultra-high shear mixer. Several designs are available, including the DSZL series, which consists of concentric rows of intermeshing teeth; product enters from the center and moves outward through channels in the rotor/stator. Extremely tight tolerances between adjacent surfaces of the rotor and stator are adjustable to fine-tune shear levels and flow rates. The DSZL mixer has been proven to produce better quality emulsions at higher throughputs.
