CNC flame cutting
Flame cutting steel profiles uses a combination of gases (usually oxygen and propane) to create a controlled flame that heats the metal to its melting point and blows away the molten oxidation slag, creating a groove in the metal. Flame cutting is possible for thicknesses over 400mm
CNC oxyfuel cutting uses multiple torches, which means the process is ideal for high-volume production runs of steel profiles that require repeatable accuracy
Flame cutting is capable of cutting thicker profiles than laser cutting, while flame cutting machines can cut profiles up to 400mm or larger, while laser cutting machines are limited to around 0.1-80mm. Laser precision is higher than flame cutting, while flame cutting is accurate to 1-3mm, and laser cutting can be accurate to more than 0.1mm
Flame cutting or oxy-fuel cutting is a thermochemical process, like water jet cutting, for thicker materials. It comes in handy when plasma cutting power is not enough, but it is mostly suitable for carbon steel
