CNC Vertical Machining Center Cartesian Coordinate System Move:
As we all know the CNC Vertical Machining Center Axis movement is based on the Cartesian coordinate system. If you don’t know how the coordinate system are defined in CAM and CNC Machine and how these systems work together, you cannot operate the CNC Vertical Machining Center well. With the help of Cartesian coordinate system, the CNC Vertical Machining Center know where the part is located within the work space. Length offsets are required to account for different tool lengths. Diameter offsets are the key to highly precise machining where part tolerances can be maintained to an accuracy of .005 inches or less.
The Cartesian coordinate system has three number lines, which is also called X, Y and Z, set at 90 Degree angles to each other. The origin is the place where X, Y and Z Axis cross each other.
CNC programs can be written in either Inch or Metric Units. The machine can be switched with a single code to accept either. In America, most program uses the inch units because the tools are made in Inches. The CNC Vertical Machining Center is familiar with inch measurement system. Even if the part is designed in metric, it is usually converted to inch units for machining.
CNC Machines use a 3D Cartesian coordinate system.Material to be machined is clamped onto the work table, which moves in the XY-Plane. When the operator stand in the front of the machine(face to face),the X-axis moves the table left to right. And the Y-axis moves the table forward and backward. The column controls the Z-axis and moves up-down.
