The role of the steering gear is to convert the steering torque and steering Angle from the steering disc appropriately (mainly deceleration and torque increase), and then output to the steering rod mechanism, so that the car steering, so the steering gear is essentially a deceleration transmission device, generally 1 to 2 deceleration transmission pairs. It can be manufactured by CNC engraving, Sand Casting, transparent acrylic(PMMA/PC) 3D Printing.

Many forms of have appeared in history, but many have been eliminated. According to the form of power classification, steering can be divided into mechanical (no power) and power (with power).
Mechanical steering gear can be divided into rack and pinion type, circulating ball type, worm crank finger pin type, circulating ball crank finger pin type, worm roller type and so on. Commonly used are rack and pinion type, circulating ball type, worm crank finger pin type.
Rack and pinion steering gear is one of the simplest steering gear. It has the advantages of simple structure, compact, high stiffness, low cost, sensitive steering, high positive and reverse attack rate, easy to arrange, and is especially suitable for matching with candle suspension and McPherson suspension, but also can directly drive the rod, simplify the steering transmission mechanism. Therefore, it is widely used in cars and micro and light trucks.
The circulating ball steering gear has high positive and reverse attack rate, so it is easy to operate, long life, stable and reliable. However, due to the high reverse attack rate, it is easy to transfer the impact of the road to the steering wheel.
