Hydraulic integral power steering gear

At present, the domestic car almost without exception adopts the rotary valve type integral power steering gear. The following figure shows the schematic diagram of the steering booster with the integral power steering gear used in the Jetta sedan. Rack and pinion type mechanical steering gear, steering power cylinder and control valve are designed into one body to form an integrated power steering gear. It can be manufactured by CNC engraving, Sand Casting, transparent acrylic(PMMA/PC) 3D Printing.

The steering power cylinder piston is integrated with the mechanical steering device. The piston divides the steering power cylinder into left and right chambers. The steering control valve is assembled at the lower end of the mechanical steering device. The steering shaft rotates to control the working state of the steering control valve. The steering control valve is a slide valve or a rotating valve.
The impeller pump is driven by the engine, the steering control valve is installed in the lower end of the steering column, and the right end of the rack is equipped with a power cylinder, which is divided into two working pressure chambers. The oil storage tank is connected to the impeller pump through the suction pipe and the control valve through the return pipe. The pressure pipe leads from the control valve to the impeller pump.
When not turning, the control valve remains open, and the working chamber on both sides of the power cylinder piston is connected with the low pressure return oil pipe and does not work. The oil output from the impeller pump flows back to the oil storage tank through the control valve. Because the steering pressure and the throttling resistance of the flow limiting valve are very small, the output oil pressure of the impeller pump is also very low, and the impeller pump is actually in an idle state.
When steering, the driver rotates the steering disc, drives the steering shaft and gear, so that the distribution valve is in the corresponding working position with a turning direction, the corresponding working chamber in the steering power cylinder is disconnected from the return oil pipe, and the output pipe of the impeller pump is connected, and the other chamber is still through the return oil pipe. The ground steering resistance is transmitted to the rassed piston rod through the transverse tie rod, resulting in a much higher line resistance than the throttling resistance of the steering control valve. As a result, the output pressure of the impeller pump rises sharply. The high-pressure liquid enters one side of the power cylinder piston through the control valve, pushes the piston, and then pushes the rack to play an afterforce role.

The greater the steering Angle, the greater the steering force, the longer the piston travel, the higher the pressure generated, and the greater the resulting steering afterforce. When the steering disc stops rotating, the control valve then returns to the middle position, so that the power cylinder stops working, that is, with the action.
