904L stainless steel coil is a low carbon, non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel material. This high alloy stainless steel contains copper, which improves its resistance to strong reducing acids like sulphuric acid. Additionally, the steel is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Nonmagnetic coil 904L has high formability, durability, and weldability.

The 904L coil comprises a lot of pricey elements including molybdenum and nickel. Most applications that used to use grade 904L coils are now replaced with low-cost duplex 2205 stainless steel coils.
