What is a mill finish for stainless steel?
A bright, cold-rolled finish is the most commonly "Mill" finish for light gauge stainless steel sheet. It resembles a very hazy mirror, with some reflection evident. It is obtained by a final light roll pass of the sheet through polished rolls.
What is No 4 finish on stainless steel?
Stainless steel with a No. 4 finish is attained by mechanically polishing the metal with fine abrasives belts to remove minimal amounts of metal from the surface. The resulting appearance has short, parallel lines for a linear effect.
Can 304 stainless steel be polished?
Different grades of stainless steel can also simplify or increase the complexity of the polishing process. 304 is a basic type of stainless steel and one of the simplest to polish. 430, on the other hand, develops a hard oxidized surface layer and is more difficult to polish.
