What is the difference between 316L and 304L?
The differences in the properties:
Type 316L is resistant to sulfuric acid only when it is at low concentration, whereas type 304L is resistant to sulfuric acid even when it is in high concentration. Type 316L shows better resistance to phosphoric acid as compared to type 304L stainless steel.
What size sheets does stainless steel come in?
Like sheet, stainless steel plate comes in standard sizes varying in width from 4' to 8' and in length from 8' to 20', but can also be customized to suit the application. Stainless cut plate may be sheared in thicknesses up to 3/8”, and plasma cut in thicknesses over that.

316 stainless steel sheet #8 mirror has a non-directional finish that virtually looks like a mirror. It comes with a double layer of PVC film to protect the mirror finish during fabrication and installation.
BA finish
The 316 stainless steel bright annealed (BA) finish is cold rolled stainless steel that is annealed in a controlled atmosphere to retain a highly reflective finish. It has a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation.
#4 finish
316 stainless steel sheet #4 finish is the brushed finish commonly seen on kitchen appliances and backsplashes. It has a PVC film on one side to help protect against scratching during fabrication and installation.
2B finish
316 stainless steel 2B finish is a mill finish, which is smooth and NOT the brushed finish commonly seen on kitchen appliances.It may or may not have a protective film on one side to prevent scratching.

316 and 316L stainless steel alloys are both marine-grade steels, but they do possess some key differences. 316L has a lower proportion of carbon in its composition. To qualify as 316L stainless steel, the amount of carbon cannot exceed 0.03%. This decreases the risk of carbon precipitation, making it a better option for welding to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.
316 stainless steel has a mid-range level of carbon and contains between 2% and 3% molybdenum, which increases resistance to corrosion, acidic elements, and high temperatures. Both materials have excellent malleability, meaning they perform well in bending, stretching, deep drawing, and spinning.
