Annealing of 5160 spring steel
Slowly heat to 740-770°C and allow enough time for the steel to heat up fully, and then slowly cool down in the furnace. 5160 tool steel will reach MAX 250 HB (Brinell hardness)
Quenching of 5160 spring steel
5160 steel should be heated evenly to 830-860°C (1526-1580°F) until fully heated. Each 25 mm of the scored section should be provided for about 30 minutes, and then it should be quenched in oil immediately.
Tempering of 5160 spring steel
5160 steel is tempered at 460-510°C, fully immersed at the selected temperature, and immersed for at least 1 hour per 25 mm total thickness.
