A conveyor will always consist of at least two pulleys, head pulley and tail pulley, with additional pulleys used depending on the configuration. Standard-duty pulleys are usually adequate for simple applications, but mine-duty and engineered pulleys are also available where heavy-duty
pulleys are required.
Conveyor pulleys are divided into the following sub-categories.
Head pulleys
The head pulley is located at the discharge point of the conveyor. It usually drives the conveyor and often has a larger diameter than other pulleys. For better traction, the head pulley is usually lagged (with either rubber or ceramic lagging material).
Tail and wing pulleys
The tail pulley is located at the loading end of the belt. It comes with either a flat face or a slatted profile (wing pulley), which cleans the belt by allowing material to fall between the support members.
Snub pulleys
Pulley, which is provided to increase/decrease, warp/contact angle of belt on nearby pulley, is called Snub Pulley.
Drive pulleys
Drive pulleys, which can also be the head pulley, are driven by a motor and power transmission unit to propel the belt and material to the discharge.
Bend pulleys
A bend pulley is used for changing the direction of the belt.
The Bend Pulley is usually installed at the tail part or the vertical take-up equipment part when the belt direction need to 180°bending. It will be installed above the take-up equipment part while 90°bending.
The surface treatment of the bend pulley can be smooth steel and flat rubber lagging.

Pulley production technology
CK pulley is manufactured by strictly following the following steps:
- cutting: light tracking cutting machine can ensure cutting accuracy.
- welding: CO2 gas shielded welding and submerged arc welding ensure reliable quality.
- nondestructive testing: the welds will be nondestructive tested by ultrasound and X-ray to ensure welding quality.
- annealing: annealing shall be used to eliminate internal forces.
- static balance: static balance test shall be conducted after assembly to ensure the service life of the pulley.
- vulcanized rubber castings: vulcanized rubber shall be used on all pulley. We have professional vulcanization workshop, equipment and technology. In addition, we are equipped with special equipment for cutting herringbone and diamond patterns. They can ensure that we provide high quality precision pulley: circular runout displacement less than 0.2mm (higher than 0.5mm required for high quality products in the national standard).
