Rotary Slotter Machine is a kind of machine that is used to make different kinds of surfaces, slots, contours, splines, internal grooves and so on by the vertical reciprocating motion of the cutting tools. It is also known as a vertical shaper machine because it works like a shaper machine but with a vertical movement of the ram.

The main parts of a Rotary Slotter Machine:

Bed or base: It is the foundation of the machine that supports all other parts and takes all the loads and cutting forces.
Column: It is the vertical part that connects the bed and the ram. It also guides the ram during its movement.
Ram: It is the part that holds the cutting tool and moves up and down. The cutting tool removes unwanted metal during the downstroke and returns to its original position during the upstroke.
Tool head: It is the part that holds the cutting tool and allows it to adjust its angle and position according to the workpiece.
Carriage: It is the part that carries the saddle, cross-slide and rotary table. It can move along the bed to give longitudinal movement to the table.
Saddle: It is the part that is mounted on the carriage and can move towards or away from the column to give cross movement to the table.

Rotary table: It is the part that holds the workpiece and can rotate around its axis to give circular movement to the workpiece.
