What is PET Film used on solar panels?

PET (also known as Polyethylene terephalate) is a type of plastic material which is commonly used as bottle and containers in our daily life due to its chemical stability and non-toxic character. It is different the PET (Polyester films) that solar panel manufacturers use as the back sheet of tempered glass laminated solar panel for solar power plant/station. It has good transparency up to 93% and not easy to be scratched, which makes it a good option as a protective layer above the solar cell. This allows good sunlight absorption while keeping the solar panel lightweight (compared to glass laminated solar panels)
