Asme B16.9 Standard Dimensions Of Long Radius Elbows Carbon Steel Pipe Elbow
Wrought fittings covered by this Standard shall be in accordance with ASTM A234, ASTM A403, ASTM A420, ASTM A815, ASTM B361, ASTM B363, ASTM B366, or the corresponding specification listed in ASME BPVC, Section II. The term “wrought” denotes fittings made of pipe, tubing, plate, or forgings.
For purposes of deter mining proof testing requirements of section 9, the mate rials are grouped by similar properties as shown in Table 5-1. Fittings made from block forgings may only be supplied subject to agreement between the manufacturer and purchaser. Such fittings need not meet the requirements of section 7. For applications where fatigue loading is a concern, required minimum dimensions shall be furnished by the purchaser. Fittings may be made to special dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances by agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. This Standard states values in both SI (Metric) and U.S.Customary units.
These systems of units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text and tables, the U.S. Customary units are shown in parentheses. The values statedin each systemare not exact equivalents;therefore, it is required that each system of units be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems constitutes nonconformance with the Standard. The ways of connecting with the pipe are: direct welding (the more common way) flange connection, hot melt connection, electric melt connection, thread connection and socket connection, etc.
