Description:

The stainless steel shall be less readily sensitized with respect to inter-granular corrosion especially during fabrication.The process of coating is carried out after the clamp has been formed into shape and with the holes already punched or sheared-off so that the edges are also coated.The coating is adherent so that it will not be removed by any reasonable process of handling or installation.The finished product is free from sharp edges, uncoated areas, blisters, dross inclusions and other type of projections that would interfere with its intended use.

A span clamp and outdoor wire anchor are needed to drop telecommunication cable into a customer’s home. If a span clamp should come apart from a messenger wire or a self-supporting type of telecommunication cable, or if an outdoor wire anchor should come apart from the span clamp, the drop line will hang loose, which will create a facility fault. It is therefore necessary to prevent such accidents by ensuring that these components do not separate from the equipment.

The separation of a span clamp or outdoor wire anchor can be caused by (1) loosening of the nut on the span clamp, (2) incorrect placement of the separation-prevention washer , or (3) corrosion and subsequent deterioration of an iron fitting. Conditions (1) and (2) can be prevented by properly installing the components, but deterioration caused by corrosion (3) cannot be prevented by proper installation work alone.

The main components of a span clamp are (1) support plates, (2) a hook bolt, (3) a nut. Support plates are made of zinc alloy, but components (2)–(3) are made of Stainless steel .Since zinc is more resistant to corrosion than steel (iron).
