A brush motor is a rotating motor that contains a brush device to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy (electric motor) or mechanical energy into electrical energy (generator). Brushed motors are the foundation of all motors, with characteristics such as fast start, timely braking, smooth speed regulation over a large range, and relatively simple control circuits.
Name: Brushed Motor
Definition: The foundation of all motors
Nature: Scientific applicability, universal use
Advantages: Cheap, simple layout, and convenient
Operational principle
When the motor is working, the coil and commutator rotate, while the magnetic steel and carbon brush do not rotate. The alternating changes in the current direction of the coil are completed by the commutator and brush that rotate with the motor.
In the electric vehicle industry, brush motors are divided into high-speed brush motors and low-speed brush motors. There are many differences between a brush motor and a brushless motor. From the name, it can be seen that a brush motor has carbon brushes, while a brushless motor does not have carbon brushes.
A brush motor consists of two main parts: a stator and a rotor.
The stator has magnetic poles (winding or permanent magnet), and the rotor has windings. After being energized, a magnetic field (pole) is also formed on the rotor. There is an angle between the magnetic poles of the stator and rotor, which causes the motor to rotate under the mutual attraction of the stator and rotor magnetic fields (N and S poles). By changing the position of the electric brush, the direction of the magnetic pole angle between the stator and rotor can be changed (assuming that the magnetic pole of the stator is the starting edge of the angle, the magnetic pole of the rotor is the other side, and the direction from the magnetic pole of the rotor to the magnetic pole of the stator is the direction of the motor's rotation), thereby changing the direction of the motor's rotation.
