The remarkable feature of the covered pole motor is that the structure is very simple, there is no centrifugal switch, the power loss of the covered pole motor is large, the motor power factor is low, and the starting torque is also low. They are designed to remain small in size with low power ratings. The speed of the motor is as precise as the frequency of the power supply applied to the motor.

An obvious feature of the covered pole motor is that its structure is relatively simple, even without a centrifugal switch, but its power loss is relatively large, coupled with the motor power factor is relatively low, so its starting torque is low. In general, its size is relatively small, and its rated power value is also relatively low.

Covered pole motor can only be rotated in a certain direction, if the opposite direction is rotated, the covered pole coil is easy to damage.

Working Principle

Shield-pole motor belongs to AC single-phase induction motor, its auxiliary winding is generally composed of copper ring, the copper ring is called shield-pole coil, the phase of the current delay magnetic flux in the coil is in the magnetic pole part, so as to provide a rotating magnetic field, the rotation direction should be from the non-shield-pole to shield-pole ring.
The rotor is placed in the C-core, and half of each magnetic pole needs to be covered by a shield coil. Once the AC current passes through the supply coil, a pulsating flux is generated.

Once the magnetic flux of the shielding coil changes, the shield coil can sense the current and voltage, which can be corresponding to the magnetic flux change from the power coil, the magnetic flux under the shield coil lags behind the magnetic flux of the rest of the coil, and the rotor will rotate in the magnetic flux.
