A patio door is a glass door, half of which is fixed in place. The other half of the sliding glass door slides open over the fixed portion. It is a source of natural light and a great way to access your porch, deck, back yard or pool area.

There are many options to consider when choosing replacement patio doors. Width size varies depending on whether the patio door is a two- or three-panel configuration.

Clean Cut: Clean cut glass has a raw edge, is sharp, and may have small chips on the edges.
Seamed: Seaming produces a sanded edge that is not sharp, has the look of a natural cut, and may have small chips on edge.
Pencil Ground Edge: A machined edge with a smooth, rounded profile. The ground edge has a sanded, nearly white appearance.
Pencil Polished Edge: A machined edge with a polished, rounded profile. The polished edge has a similar appearance to the face of the glass.
Flat Ground Edge: A machined edge with a smooth, flat, and angular ground edge. The ground edge has a sanded, nearly white appearance.
Flat Polished Edge: A machined edge with a polished, flat, and angular profile. The polished edge has a similar appearance to the face of the glass.
Beveled Pencil Edge: Beveled edges are specified by width (½” – 1 ½”) and are created through a grinding and polishing process. The edge is ground to a pencil profile.

A beveled edge is found on both glass tops, and mirrors hanging on walls with or without frames. Normally when found on a glass top, there is not full support underneath the glass, so the bevel can be seen. Examples being glass pedestals, or coffee tables with the center open.

The glass is sent through a beveling machine with a number of wheels again ranging in grit, getting finer towards the end. And lastly the glass encounters felt wheels along with cerium oxide to polish the bevel back to clear.

Bevels create a very beautiful traditional look that can really bring out the beauty of the glass.
