Gabion basket, also known as gabion box and gabion net, is a new type of ecological grid structure. Gabions are a proven method of halting river bank erosion, for both large rivers and small streams that are prone to flooding. Any river erosion system needs to be designed to cope with the expected peak river flood volumes, as this is when most damage to river banks and their erosion protection measures occurs. Flood events are often described as 1 in 100yr floods or 1 in 50yrs floods, and any river bank protection system needs to be able to cope with these flood events.

Gabion Basket Application:

Gabion mattresses are used as retaining walls to provide various prevention and protection projects, such as landslide prevention, erosion and erosion protection, as well as hydraulic and coastal protection for various types of rivers, seas and river courses. Installation Process

1. Ends,diaphragms,front and back panels are placed upright on the bottom section of wire mesh

2. Secure panels by screwing sprial binders through the mesh openings in adjacent panels

3. Stiffeners shall be placed across the corners, at 300mm from the corner. Providing a diagonal bracing,and crimped

4. Box gabion filled with graded stone by hand or with a shovel.

5. After filling,close the lid and secure with sprial binders at the diaphragms,ends,front and back.

6. When stacking tiers of the weled gabion,the lid of the lower tier may serve as base of the upper tier.Secure with sprial binders and add pre-formed stiffeners to exterior cells before filling with graded stones.
