Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a highly efficient and reliable welding process capable of producing high-strength, high-quality welds with minimal distortion.
Our standard friction stir welding equipment is available in two configurations: static gantry and moving gantry, and we offer 2-axis, 3-axis, and 5-axis options for each configuration. Each gantry type can be equipped with various main axis options, including conventional mechanical spindles, electric spindles, AC pendulum axes, retractable spindles, and double shoulder spindles.
FSW is ideal for joining alloys with low melting points, such as aluminum, copper, and brass, as well as for high-temperature welding in steels and nickel-based alloys. The FSW technology has been used in industries from aerospace to shipbuilding and rail to EV battery tray.
DIG Benefits
Quality: FSW produces high-strength welding seams. No welding defects such as pores or cracks.
Efficiency: FSW requires low heat input compared to fusion welding processes as it does not require melting of the materials.
Easy Operation: Friction stir welding equipment realises fully-automated welding, which can greatly lessen the requirements for operators, making it suitable for both new and experienced welders.
Versatility: Suitable for various industries including aerospace, automotive, rail, and electronics due to its ability to weld different materials and thicknesses.
Environmentally friendly as it produces no fume, spatter, or UV radiation
