The Recessed Solution for Fire-rated Ceilings

The ceiling systems of construction are required to meet certain houly fire ratings. The parts of the ceiling are usually made of fire-rated board to avoid flame spreading in the event of fire. But the cut-out hole required in the ceiling board for recessed downlight completly voids the fire rating of the structure. The present recessed downlights are inadequate to re-establish the fire rating of the ceiling after the hold has been cut for the lighting fitting.

Vertex Lighting has recently been drawing close attention because of its new family of fire-rated recessed downlights. When these fire-rated downlights are installed in the ceiling,they are ventilated to allow the fitting to breathe above the ceiling in ordinary situations and they maintain fire ratings in ceiling systems when on fire. The fire-rated downlight is designed to automatically seal the ventilating holes when on fire. It is equipped with a smart device. The intumescent disk forms a dense carbon char which shuts off heat ventilating holes so that fire cannot reach the next floor through the downlight. This could be difference between life and death for people in the construction.
