IEC 60884-1 Figure 40 Apparatus for Testing Resistance to Abnormal Heat of Insulating Sleeves of Plug Pins
1. Introduction
Apparatus for testing resistance to abnormal heat of insulating sleeves is designed according to IEC6884-1 figure 40 and clause 28.1.2, the test apparatus consists of an insulating plate A and of a metal part B to verify the insulating sleeves of plug pin resistance to abnormal heating. The specimens are inserted in the test apparatus, and placed in the most unfavourable horizontal position, when the test apparatus has reached a steady temperature and maintained for 3h, the specimen are then taken out from the test apparatus and are allowed to cool down to room temperature, the insulating sleeves of the pins of the specimens are then submitted to an impact test at ambient temperature, and subject to visual inspection, the insulating sleeves should be shown no cracks by visible with normal or corrected vision without additional magnification, and the dimensions of the insulating sleeves should not have changed.
