Discover the Superior Properties of Tinplate and TFS for Consumer and Industrial Packing
Tinplate
- Excellent mechanical properties: high strength and good rigidity, less prone to breakage than plastic, glass, paper containers, etc., suitable for small sales packaging and large transport packaging.
- Outstanding barrier properties: excellent gas barrier, moisture resistance, light blocking and fragrance retention, can reliably block air, moisture, light, etc., effectively protect product quality and extend shelf life.
- Good sealing performance: good sealing can be achieved through a variety of methods, such as heat sealing technology, which can effectively prevent the contents from contacting the air and reduce the possibility of oxidation, deterioration and moisture.
- Excellent processing performance: long production history, mature technology, complete supporting production equipment, high production efficiency, can be made into packaging containers of various shapes to meet the packaging needs of different products, and easy to print and decorate, the pattern trademark is bright and beautiful, which can enhance the attractiveness and grade of the product.
- Good corrosion resistance: surface tin plating can effectively prevent the iron substrate from rusting and corrosion, especially for some corrosive substances such as weak acids and weak alkalis, suitable for packaging a variety of foods and consumer goods.
- Good thermal conductivity: suitable for food tin cans, etc., with high heating and cooling efficiency, which helps to improve the effect of high-temperature sterilization and rapid cooling, and even can achieve in-can cooking of the contents.
- Environmentally friendly and recyclable: Made of recyclable materials, it is easy to recycle and reuse after being discarded, meets environmental protection requirements, and helps to enhance the brand's environmental image.
- High safety: The iron box packaging has good sealing performance, which can prevent the product from being contaminated and damaged. For some products with high safety requirements such as food and medicine, it can provide better protection, and also prevent children from accidentally eating.
TFS (chrome-plated thin steel plate)
- Low cost: It is a substitute material for tinplate, which reduces the production cost to a certain extent and has a high cost performance.
- Good corrosion resistance: It is plated with chromium and chromium oxide on both sides. Although its corrosion resistance is not as good as that of tinplate, it can still meet the packaging needs of many products, especially in some environments where the corrosion requirements are not extremely harsh.
- Good mechanical properties and processing performance: It has certain strength and rigidity, which can meet the basic mechanical requirements of packaging containers, and can also be processed by stamping, stretching and other processing techniques to make packaging of different shapes.
- Strong paint adhesion: The chrome-plated surface can provide a good adhesion basis for the paint, which is convenient for subsequent surface treatment such as painting, and further enhances its corrosion resistance and decorative properties.
- Beautiful appearance: The chrome-plated layer gives the steel plate surface a bright metallic luster, which is more beautiful in appearance and can enhance the product packaging image.

Applications of Tinplate and TFS
Consumer Packing and Industrial Packing |
ETP is primarily used for packaging foodstuffs and beverages, but it is also used in containers for oils, grease, paints, polishes, chemicals and many other products. Aerosol containers and caps and closures are also made from ETP. |
TFS are most frequently used for can tops, screw and lug caps, snap and press-on closures and shallow-drawn food cans. |
