According to the real-time amplitude of the sine and cosine signals, through Arctan calculation, the exact position (electrical angle) of the encoder within this sine and cosine cycle at this moment can be determined. Depending on the resolution of the analog-to-digital AD conversion and the quality of the sine and cosine signals, each sine and cosine cycle can usually be subdivided into 212 to 214 steps. The number of sine and cosine cycles per revolution of the encoder itself, multiplied by the number of subdivision steps per sine and cosine cycle, constitutes the total resolution of each revolution of the sine and cosine encoder after subdivision.
Total resolution per revolution after subdivision = Number of cycles per revolution X Number of subdivision steps per cycle
For example, the total resolution of a sine and cosine encoder with 1024 cycles per revolution, subdivided by 13 bits, is: 210 x 213 =210+13=223
It is worth noting that the subdivided resolution is calculated by the controller or driver through input circuit processing, and is not directly output by the encoder.
