Location and Housing: The water pump is usually located near the front of the engine and is driven by a pulley connected to the engine's crankshaft via a belt or a chain. It is often mounted on the engine block and connected to the radiator by hoses.

Impeller: Inside the water pump housing, there is an impeller. The impeller is a rotating component with curved blades. When the engine is running, the impeller is driven by the engine's mechanical energy.

Coolant Circulation: As the impeller rotates, it creates a centrifugal force that draws coolant from the engine and pushes it through the cooling system. The coolant is pulled in from the engine's lower portions and pushed through the engine block and cylinder head passages, absorbing heat generated by the engine.

Coolant Flow to Radiator: After absorbing heat from the engine, the coolant flows through the upper hose to the radiator. In the radiator, the coolant releases its heat to the surrounding air through the radiator's fins. This process helps to lower the coolant's temperature.

Return to Engine: Once the coolant has been cooled in the radiator, it is pumped back into the engine by the water pump. The cycle continues as long as the engine is running, maintaining a consistent operating temperature.
