Accurate sampling Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling is gaining recognition and is already the most common mineral exploration drilling method used in many regions of the world. Combined with the Secoroc RC 50 hammer it is unbeatable for obtaining accurate and uncontaminated rock samples at high speed and low cost. Roschen produces the complete RC drill string including hammer, bit and pipes, for both in-pit grade control and exploration drillers. Mounted on a choice of Explorac 220RC, Explorac R50, ROC L8RC and RD10 rigs, the system is the most productive available.

REVERSE CIRCULATION HAMMERS AND BITS

Reverse Circulation RC drilling uses flush-threaded double-wall drill pipe and high-pressure air to provide continuous return of formation and water samples. Cuttings and formation waters are not contaminated with drilling additives or mixed with other borehole material. Up-hole velocity of about 70 ft/ sec provides reliable logging of water, mineral or contaminant-bearing strata. Water samples representative of specific strata may be airlifted or bailed to the surface.

RC hammers are flexible and can be used in other drilling operations such as:

RC drilling is over five times faster than core drilling, particularly in hard rock and almost half the cost of traditional core drilling. RC hammers are pneumatically driven by compressors and the principal operation of a Reverse Circulation hammer and bits is the same as a standard DTH hammer. RC hammers and bits follow the high performance design associated with traditional DTH equipment and return the highest quality uncontaminated sample.
