What is TPMS?
Direct TPMS is a warning system that warns a vehicle's operator of an unsafe change in the air pressure in one or more of the tires. Readings are provided by pressure sensing transmitters mounted inside each tire and sent to a central computer (ECU) for display on the dashboard. A warning indicator light on the instrument panel and an audible warning notify the driver if a 25% drop in pressure occurs.
TIPS FOR USING
1, When you see your TPMS dashboard light come on, you don’t need to pull over immediately. You can wait for a safe break in traffic before you pull over to inspect your tires.
2, You should still check the pressure of each tire manually if you’re planning on taking a long trip or after returning from a long trip. Long use – especially in very cold and very warm climates – can change your tires’ pressures enough to affect their functionality.
3, Make it a habit to check your tires’ pressures at the beginning of every new season.

RFQ
A: How do I know if a vehicle is equipped with direct TPMS?
Q: Check the vehicle owner's manual. Lighted universal symbol on the dash (when vehicle is in the "On" position). Use the learn & test scan tool. Remember, visually, a snap-in TPMS sensor looks very similar to a standard tubeless tire valve (TTV). Always check the owner's manual or turn the ignition on and look for the universal TPMS symbol to determine if the vehicle has TPMS.
