GX Barrel

GX augers are manufactured using the same size barrel as was supplied 50 years ago when you purchased a GX Auger, this allows for easy replacement of all associated barrel items with no need to worry about the age of the auger. The barrel is rolled and spiral welded in our barrel forming machine and because of the accuracy of our machine you can be assured you will receive the exact size as specified in the table below.

1. 'Actual outside diameter' sizes do not include the spiral weld.
2. Keogh barrel is sold in a minimum length of 1 meter.

GX augers rely on our in-house formed flite, flite can either be supplied from our set range of continuous helicord flite or they can be pressed into segments one pitch at a time. Segments are more expensive than continuous flite but they can be formed into practically any size that is required, this means we can supply you with replacement fliting to suit any size auger you may have. We also offer the supply of flite already welded to a variety of pipe sizes as shown in the table below. For us to supply you with flite to suit your application you will need to provide us with some information, please see the tables and corresponding images below to work out exactly what size flite you require!

Correct Flite Rotation designation

The hardest part of designating which flite you require is working out if it is Right Handed (RH) or Left Handed (LH). When replacing flite on an auger, deciding on whether it is LH or RH is critical and quite easy. Forget about which way the auger rotates and which way the product moves and use the following information to make your decision.

How to designate Right Hand Flite

Stand at one end of your flite with the end of the strip at the 12 o'clock position, as shown at 'Z' in the above illustration. If the flite strip moves away from you around the pipe clockwise (as shown by the red arrow) towards the 'Y' then the flite you are looking at is RH flight.

How to designate Left Hand Flite

Stand at one end of your flite with the end of the strip at the 12 o'clock position, as shown at 'X' in the above illustration. If the flite strip moves away from you around the pipe anti-clockwise (as shown by the red arrow) towards the 'W' then the flite you are looking at is LH flight.

Steel Segments

GX press segments up to 600 mm in diameter and up to 16 mm thick to suit both our internal and external jobs each and every day. We need to know the outside diameter, pitch, inside diameter, material thickness, material type, orientation (LH or RH) and how many segments will be required (Overall length / Segment Pitch) to be able to manufacture and supply the segments that you require. We can not supply segments where the pitch is larger than the diameter, please ring to get a quote on the price and supply of your required segments.
