At this time, the filament will sag under the action of its own weight in the wire section between the two hooks. In severe cases, the filament may sag to the glass shell of the bulb. For doped tungsten filaments that are doped with a small amount of potassium, silicon and aluminum oxides during the powder metallurgy process of tungsten, although the silicon and aluminum content in the final finished wire is only a few parts per million, and the potassium content is only a few tens of parts per million, the sag degree of the filament made of this doped tungsten filament can be greatly improved. The reason is that the crystal structure of recrystallization of doped tungsten filaments and undoped tungsten filaments is very different. The recrystallized crystals of undoped tungsten filaments are basically equiaxed crystals, while the recrystallized crystal structure of doped tungsten filaments is coarse grains that overlap each other in the form of long strips. From the high temperature creep theory of metal materials, this recrystallized crystal structure with a thick and long overlap structure can greatly improve its ability to resist sagging at high temperatures. According to a series of transmission electron microscope and Auger spectrometer research and analysis conducted in the 1970s, the formation of the recrystallized crystal structure with a thick and long overlap structure unique to the doped tungsten wire is closely related to the potassium contained in the doped tungsten wire. The trace potassium remaining in the doped tungsten bar forms potassium bubble columns parallel to the wire axis during processing, which hinders the lateral growth of the grains during the recrystallization process, thereby generating a thick and long overlap structure.
