Ferromanganese is mainly used in the steel industry as a deoxidizer and an alloying element. When added to molten steel, it reacts with oxygen to form manganese oxide, which is easily removed from the liquid steel, thus reducing the risk of brittleness and improving the mechanical properties of the steel. Additionally, manganese contributes to the strength and hardness of steel, making it an essential element for the production of various types of steel, including structural steel, tool steel, and stainless steel.
